UV disinfection is the most efficient method for making drinking water microbiologically safe without chemical addition. Alpha UV System drinking water UV systems use Philips UV-C low-pressure UV-C lamps — the preferred lamp type for high-UV-transmittance clear water applications. At 40 mJ/cm², our systems achieve 4-log (99.99%) inactivation of E. coli, Salmonella, Giardia cysts, Cryptosporidium oocysts, and common waterborne viruses in a single pass. Unlike RO, UV wastes no water. Unlike chlorination, it produces no disinfection byproducts and imparts no taste. No. UV is 100% water-efficient — every litre of water entering the UV chamber exits as safe drinking water. RO systems typically waste 3–4 litres for every litre produced. UV is the most water-efficient disinfection technology available.
