Quick Answer
The Alpha UV UV Intensity Monitor is an online UV-C sensor that measures real-time UV irradiance (mW/cm²) inside a UV chamber, outputs 4–20 mA for SCADA/PLC integration, and triggers an alarm relay on low-UV-C or lamp failure — used to continuously verify UV dose delivery throughout lamp service life.
Online UV-C intensity sensor — continuous dose verification, 4–20 mA output, alarm relay
A UV intensity monitor is the only way to verify that your UV system is actually delivering the required dose in real operating conditions — not just when the lamp is new, but throughout the lamp's 9,000-hour service life as UV output gradually declines. The Alpha UV UV Intensity Monitor uses a calibrated UV-C photodiode sensor inserted through the chamber wall to measure real-time UV-C irradiance in mW/cm² at the sensor position. A digital display panel shows instantaneous UV intensity, cumulative lamp hours, and alarm status. The 4–20 mA analogue output integrates directly with SCADA, DCS, or PLC systems for continuous monitoring in industrial and municipal UV installations. The alarm relay triggers on low-UV-C condition (configurable threshold) or lamp failure — providing process safety assurance for food, pharma, and municipal applications where compliance is mandatory. IIT Patna engineers configure the alarm setpoint to the specific UV dose requirement of your application.

Every Alpha UV System reactor geometry is validated through CFD simulation using ANSYS Fluent. The analysis below shows velocity streamlines and UV dose distribution across the reactor cross-section, confirming that minimum dose targets are met across the entire chamber volume — not just at the chamber centreline.

Every UV Monitor ships with genuine Philips UV-C lamps. Not unbranded Chinese alternatives. Philips lamps are rated 9,000–12,000 hours — more than double the life of typical Chinese OEM lamps. A serial number certificate of authenticity is included with every lamp.

A new lamp does not guarantee sufficient UV dose. UVT of the water, quartz sleeve fouling, and flow rate all affect actual dose delivered. A UV intensity monitor measures real-time irradiance inside the chamber under actual operating conditions — the only direct evidence that the system is meeting its dose target.
The 4–20 mA analogue output maps linearly to the configured UV-C measurement range (e.g., 4 mA = 0 mW/cm², 20 mA = 40 mW/cm²). It connects directly to any PLC analogue input card or DCS field I/O module — no additional signal conditioning required.
Revised Schedule M 2025 requires continuous UV dose monitoring with alarm for pharmaceutical WFI and purified water UV systems. The UV Intensity Monitor with 4–20 mA output and alarm relay satisfies this requirement and provides the data log for CDSCO audits.
