Ask: "What lamp make is used in your UV systems, and can you provide the published UV output-versus-operating-hours curve from the lamp manufacturer?" A supplier using Philips UV-C lamps should be able to produce the Philips technical data sheet showing UV output at 0, 1,000, 5,000, and 9,000 hours. A supplier using generic OEM lamps will either not have this data or will provide a generic curve that is not lamp-model-specific.

4. Ask for a Dose Validation Certificate at Your Flow Rate and UVT

Ask the supplier: "At what flow rate and UV transmittance has this system been validated to deliver [X] mJ/cm²?" The answer should be a specific flow rate (in LPH or m³/hr) and a specific UVT (e.g., 95%, 85%, 75%). If the supplier quotes a UV dose (e.g., 40 mJ/cm²) without specifying the flow rate and UVT at which it was validated, the dose claim is not verifiable. A validation certificate from a recognised test facility (NSF International, DVGW, TÜV) at the rated conditions is the gold standard.
